World War 2 Actor Report
With the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7th 1941, the United States entered World War 2. However, the way in which this war affected Americans was very different than that of World War 1. As we have discussed in class, everyone's lives were changed. For this assignment you will choose one type of American to research and tell the story of their experience during the war. You will have all week to accomplish this assignment. It will be due April 4th at the beginning of class. It must be a three page, double spaced report that answers the following questions:
1. How did Pearl Harbor change their life?
2. What sacrifices did they have to make?
3. How did daily life change?
4. When did the changes happen? (gradually or all at once)
5. Where did the changes take place? (home, work, society)
6. Why did these changes happen?
Be sure to give historical examples to back up your claims. These examples need to be things that your person would have experienced, gone through or witnessed in some way. Our class discussion on Monday March 27th, will help prepare you for this assignment. Wednesday March 29th will be a research day in class.

Holocaust Aftermath Report
For this assignment, you will be using the United State Holocaust Memorial Museum website to find information about someone who lived through this time. You will be able to chose between resistance fighters, such as actual fighters and those who hid those who were persecuted, rescuers, people who tried to help prisoners escape or who were part of the Allied forced who liberated the camps, as well as survivors, prisoners who lived to tell their tale along with those who lost their lives. The goal of this assignment is to help you see why it is important to remember these events as well as to see how this event impacted the American public as a whole. This report will need to be at least 500 words and include information about the person, what they did during the war and where they were by the end. Also you need to explain why this person's story is important to the historical narrative as a whole. Happy Researching! This assignment will be 50 points total with the possible for extra credit if you go above and beyond the basic requirements. This assignment will be due by April 17th, 2017. If you turn this paper in before Spring Break, April 7th, you will get 50 points extra credit.

Life and Death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Web Quest
For this web quest you will be doing different activities in order to gain the information needed to write an essay on the life and death of President John F. Kennedy. These include: a scavenger hunt, collection of historical evidence and then producing a rough draft for your five paragraph essay on President Kennedy. These points and rubric are part of your packet so you know what it will take to get the total points of 200 points. 100 points for the first two activities and 100 for the essay itself.
NASA Extra Credit (150 points)
You can watch a movie like Apollo 13 or Hidden Figures and gain extra credit. 50 points for a one page critique and 100 points for two. This critique should focus on the historical accuracy of the film and what you felt could have been done better. Remember to use academic language.
Oral History Report
As we wrap up the year, your last assignment is to interview someone in your family who lived during the last three decades of the 20th century: 70's, 80's and 90's. Found out what their lives were like, what they remember about this time period and what they learned from the major events. This report is worth 100 points. You will gain 50 points extra credit by going above and beyond the basic requirements of a written essay. You may turn in an audio/visual or audio presentation along with a written report. This report will be due Tuesday May 30th at the beginning of class.
