Teachers understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of the discipline.
This document shows some of the basic principles and guidelines for historical research. These guidelines are the same ones that historians use in their research. These are also essential for helping students to engage is the historical thinking skill of personal search as according to the American Historical Association.
The paper shows is a great example of how I have used historical research guidelines in my own personal historical research. It also show the level of work I hope to help my students prepare to do.
The bibliography is a great example of both the Chicago style of documentation used by historians and also the way in which historians use both primary and secondary sources to inform their interpretation of the past.
