Standard 8:
Reflection and Continuous Growth
Teachers are reflective practitioners who use evidence to continually evaluate and adapt practice to meet the needs of each learner.
This spreadsheet shows both how I collect data on student performance but also in the notes how I adapt teaching as I pinpoint problems that students are having. The data I was collecting here was to see where in the historical thinking process students where. However, as I was evaluating and collecting data I found many commonalities in terms of mistakes, errors or lack of skills within in students' work. I noted this in the data and then worked to adapt the next lesson. For example, after students had done their writing on the Articles of Confederation I went back and worked with them on historical vocabulary and wording to help them decipher and write historical arguments better.
